We’re falsely characterized by the population at large as being innately dumber, more criminal, more promiscuous, and more self-destructive than virtually any other race on Earth. But in spite of that all, black people have for decades been able to say the following without batting an eye: “Yea? Well at least we don’t do crazy shit.”
Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Kaczynski, Timothy McVeigh, Charles Manson, the Columbine kids, Jim Jones…all of them were white. Whenever some white person came along talking shit about black people, we could always point at those examples and say black people would never do that shit.
Unfortunately, our collective forcefield against “crazy” seems to be eroding bit by bit, and it started with OJ.
To stab someone is a crime of extreme passion and craziness and, outside of prison shankings, black people tend not to do it. We prefer to shoot people, probably because you don’t have to hear the icky squeezed-ground-beef sound that I can only assume you’d hear when you do the deed. Stabbings are also very difficult to perform in drive-by format, unless of course you’re this guy:

OJ changed all that when he decided to get all stabby with his goldilocks wife and Ron Goldman, whoever the fuck he was. Before the Juice, black people could easily claim that being a ’slasher’ was strictly the domain of white people, hispanics, and the Japanese - and that black people rarely ever took part in the decidedly sick act of plunging, with your own two hands, a sharp implement into the flesh and organs of another human being with the intent of killing them. Not so after OJ.

It was an isolated incident, and at least it was, as Chris Rock put it, an ‘understandable’ (albeit horrible) crime of passion. But at least we don’t go around killing huge numbers of people at random for no apparent reason, right?

Thanks to this jerkoff, we black people can no longer dismiss the Psychopathic Serial Killer moniker. Every black person reading this post remembers when this asshole terrorized DC for a couple weeks a few years ago, and every black person reading this post knows damn well that he/she just KNEW the killer was white. When the perpetrators turned out to be not just one but TWO black dudes, part of the whole entire black community died while, at the same time, part of the whole white community lifted up its voice in unison to say “HA! YALL, TOO!”

For those who don’t know, Isaac Hayes is a believer in Scientology - the cartoonishly named demi-cult (involving aliens among other ridiculoutiae) developed by fiction writer and resident psychopath L. Ron Hubbard that, for whatever reason, has pulled countless celebrities into its fold and turned Tom Cruise into (more of) a raving lunatic:

What’s interesting about Isaac Hayes is how the news of him being a Scientologist came out. No one really knew about his ‘religion’ until his sudden and unexpected departure from South Park, which it turned out was done in protest to ‘religious insensitivity’ shown by the creators of the show when they mercilessly lampooned Scientology in the episode ‘Trapped in the Closet‘.
But even when people found out he was a Scientologist, no one really put him in the same category of crazy as Tom Cruise until they began to realize just how hypocritical his reasoning for leaving the show was:

I see the allure of it. The major church is called the Scientology Celebrity Centre. Unlike most other religions, that require only 10% of your income to go to charity (not to the specific church, no matter what pastor says), Scientologists pay a sliding scale. The higher up in the religion, the more you pay. Legend has it John Travolta has given about $20mil to the church.
The allure? Celebrities like what we “common folk” can’t have. Anyone can give 10% of what they have, but we don’t have millions to throw around. Being a Scientologist is like being a member of a Beverly Hills Golf Club or the Skull and Bones.

While I don’t drink cola, coming through the Salt Lake City Airport I deliberately tried to find a Coke or Pepsi with caffeine (which is forbidden by Mormons - hence their height.) No luck. There was an espresso stand, though. What made me laugh my ass off (as if I wasn’t getting stared at by the staff in the gift shop enough) is that Shape, Muscle and Fitness, SI Swimsuit Edition, et al all had those black covers in front of them like they do with Playboy. While I admit this photo offends me, I’m disturbed by what’s going on from the neck up.

The reason the Mormon church is racist is that in the original doctrine written by [or dictated to, depending on your faith] Joseph Smith, said the following:

Isaac Hayes had had a stroke even before the Scientology episode aired. So the official “response” you quoted above was concocted by his handlers, who are no doubt members themselves.

There was no connection between this video and this post, other than the race of the people in them. That’s like reading an article about Clarence Thomas and throwing up a 50 Cent tape like “And have you seen THIS nigga?” I don’t get it. The girl announced that she had been raped. Technically, that WOULD make her a victim. That knowledge coupled with her insane behavior seem to make her a damaged young lady. I’m from Memphis, as is Isaac Hayes (well, sort of; Isaac’s from the burbs), where he’s become a sort of quasi-memorialized inside-joke amongst native Memphians. He’s got enough clout to award him an aside at most museums dedicated to the black-ness of Memphis (of which there are many), but nowhere near the legitimacy of most “famous” Memphians. The self-proclaimed bamf usually tends to incite a reaction more along the lines of a chuckle-snort and a dismissive shake of the head than any sort of pride or appreciation. We’ve always known he’s a tool; this Scientology shit is just the icing on the cake. I mean, DAMN. We take more pride in Justin Timberlake than we do in fucking Isaac Hayes.

This is getting weird. I posted this out of curiosity because Chris has a unique and intelligent perspective on most stuff and like I said, the blog post itself is about crazy black people. I had though the readership would have a thicker skin than other blogs seeing as how the content of this blog is pretty tongue in cheek most of the time with race humor.
Every other message board that is discussing this video is loaded with tons of racist and political comments from both white and black people because that’s what people see when the watch the video; color.
It makes me wonder what people’s reactions would be if everyone on the video were white. Would there be such strong reactions? Would it matter if someone posted it at “stuff white people like” and said, by the way, everyone in the video is white. Or if everyone but the girl was white. Or how about if the girl was white and everyone else was black? What if they were all Chinese?? The point is that everyone sees the video differently and it is because of race and culture. The woman is in jail now and receiving psychiatric care. You can’t blame everything on a mental illness though. It’s a slippery slope. Wrong is wrong.

There is no innate-psycho-killer genetic predisposition among white people, just as there is no inborn need for a black guy to cap a brotha. Gentrification is akin to theft? Not if you have the Right of First Refusal, I thought. Blacks fear gentrification because of a lack of education of its process. I know there are communities that get screwed over, but it’s probably due to a lack of teamwork and the ever-present Crabs-In-A-Basket mentality a many of us are riddled with. I know gentrification can alter the character of neighborhoods and displace families who can’t afford to live there, and often times neighborhoods that are gentrified have gone unnoticed and neglected for years before Folks with money swoop in. But there are instances where the residents don’t help themselves, and allow that neighborhood/building to go to shit.
