I love the way that you talk about the "so called" EBP's...namely your own audience.
And for that matter Barack himself.

But you are correct, education doesn't equal intelligence. Not with today's diploma mills churning out "professors" like this:

I'll bet Madonna took great umbrage at the New Yorker cover as well.

"The outrage displayed is, therefore, a disingenuous mechanism for gathering props from/getting laid by other liberal yuppie douches who find logically vacuous righteous indignation super fucking sexy."

@Vik,

The colorstruck debate is so old. So old. Yeah, I know, some people still care about it, but NOTHING new can be said on the issue.

Here's the truth: Only Black folks care about color. White folks think that the darkies are all the same. By "darkies, I mean, "negroes in all shades."

The only difference is for those who don't "look black" and people mistake you for being another culture. That's halfway interesting, because then you get to hear what Others say when the rest of the negroes aren't around (I guess, for the same reason that Others lurk on this board).

However, the Mistaken Black is not privy to this type of information because you're a "light skinned Black," and thus "more acceptable" to Others. It's because people don't think that you're Black at all... and that reverts back to good old-fashioned racism: Black vs. Non-Black. But once people realize that you are a Negro, then they treat you accordingly, no matter where you sit on the color wheel.

Not to mention that most people have absolutely no grasp on race anyway, so every single Black person of every shade has been mistaken for being another culture. When that happens, I make it a point to explain the diversity within Black culture. Just like Irish people don't all have red hair, so it is that every Black person does not look like Grace Jones... and I bet you that the Hollywood types have even mistaken her for being Brazillian or something.

@ST,

I just need to clarify that I have a huge Lady Crush on Michelle. In my eyes, she can do nothing to diminish her inner fabulousness, sophistication and grace. Because of that, I know that NONE of the shennanigans that tore up the Clinton White House will be anywhere close to the Obamas (also because Barack is not crazy). So I may voice an opinion on some minor things, it doesn't stop me from supporting her.

I think the second part is what separates casual conversation from being an Enemy of our Own. Other cultures may talk about each other like dogs, but at the end of the day, they still have a unified front and do whatever it takes to keep power in their respective communities. We don't do that. Instead we go on Faux News and act a fool.

But I support my people, and I do believe that we can learn from each other. I see that constant criticism is def a problem for us. But I'll do whatever it takes to support the right people (i.e. not Jesse), because I believe in us, and it's time that we came up.

def not reading all of the comments. . . but I will put money on that it was addressed. the point of this cartoon was to show america how dumb americans are. . . how did they do this, u may ask. . . they put a cartoon on the cover, people jumped to conclusions, and didn't read the article. . . essentially judging a book by it's cover. . .

and then we wonder why kids that get a raft made of a half a tire and some hay, come here from a country who main exports are cocaine/rice/corn/sugar, they walk into the child with your child, and officially fawks up the curve for your little american born retard. . . americans are fawking fawk tards! man, the people that DON'T read the magazine are the ones all up in arms. . . people that read the magazine KNOW they do this shyt OFTEN and for good reason. it is a liberal magazine, for goodness sake. this cover wasn't supposed to get to the retarded masses. it was an inside joke between new yorker readership & obama supporters, about how ridiculous the rest of the country is. folks say bush is dumb. . . more and more I begin to think that he is in fact an accurate representation of the average american.

Can we get a topic on being colorstruck? This quote killed me "So he comes out first and he is ok, so I think, it's ok. And then Leo comes out and Leo is black. And I thought: What's going on?"

Chris,

This post pretty much sealed my high regard for you.

Of course, after reading your post on cougars I feel the need to stress that said regard is platonic and not at all based on how you look when you're all dressed up like a bag of Skittles.

Riz, my comments were directed at you. I have heard more extreme reaction to Mrs. Obama's choice and when it was mentioned on here, I simply put my two sense in. And I still maintain that our predeliection to complain about every little thing makes us our own worst enemy.

Knat, I have the book Nigger. I read it when it first came out. I thought it was an interesting read myself. I never knew the kind of hate mail that Hank Aaron got when he was on the verge of breaking the home run record.
